The Scheme’s collection and redistribution of furniture has a direct impact on the amount of
waste going to landfill and is making a positive contribution to improving the areas environment
as well as helping the councils reach their recycling targets.

It will also help Essex County Council reduce its tonnage to landfill (LATs)
and may provide a source of income from Re-Use credits.
|
|
We also plan to work with local small business electrical retailers to repair
and re-use electrical items for the 2007 WEEE legislation.

We are exploring the possibility of setting up a paint re-use scheme under the national
"Re-paint" banner,

This will again divert good quality paint from landfill and enable us to provide it to the those
on low incomes at approximately 50 pence a litre.
