Who are Lighthouse Furniture? |
|
We are a Registered Charity and a Not for Profit organisation and we aim to provide good quality furniture, white goods and household items to anyone and everyone.
|
|
We operate a referral system via our partners which provides significant discounts to those in most need.
The scheme is managed by a small team of staff and we rely on the support of
volunteers from the community.
|
|
We are open to everyone |
|
Our objectives are
to offer good quality, essential items of furniture to the public, particularly in Brentwood and surrounding areas, who are on low incomes or who are
marginalized as a result of hardship, poverty, social exclusion,
disability or mental distress, and to make a positive contribution
to the reduction in environmental damage. |
|
Recycling
The Lighthouse Furniture Project is committed to
recycling furniture which would otherwise be sent to landfill.
The scheme contributes to recycling in Brentwood and surrounding districts
by encouraging the re-use of furniture and domestic appliances which would
otherwise have gone into local landfill sites.
|
|
Our Values
We provide a caring, supportive and professional service to people in need - without
prejudice or discrimination.
Our service is driven by the needs of its clients and
is delivered by individuals with total commitment to community service.
| |
|
We recognise that the community we serve is socially diverse in race, culture,
beliefs and religion and believe that no person should suffer oppression or lack of
opportunity based on gender, race, disability, sexuality, age or class.
|
As a Chrisitian charity we are a member of Faithworks, a national organisation encouraging best practise
across faith based organisations engaged in social action, please
see www.faithworks.info.
Consequently we are whole heartedly committed to the Faithworks Charter. |
|
We also belong to the national Furniture Re-use Network to ensure best practise and compliance
with latest regulations. Within Essex we work closely with other re-use organisations
and are part of Essex Community of Re-use and Recycling Network (ECORRN).
